Hong Kong Fintech Week

Organized by InvestHK, a HKSAR government department, supported by the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA), the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC), the Insurance Authority (IA) and the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX), and with AMTD Group as the sole strategic partner, Hong Kong Fintech Week 2019 took place from November 4th to 8th in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. This is the second year in a row that AMTD Group serves as a sole strategic partner for Hong Kong Fintech Week.

During Hong Kong Fintech Week 2019, accompanied by Calvin Choi, Chairman and CEO of AMTD Group, Paul Chan Mo-po, Financial Secretary of Hong Kong; Nicholas Yang Wei-hsiung, Secretary for Innovation and Technology; James Henry Lau Jr, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury; Eddie Yue Wai-man, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA); Michelle Li Mei-sheung, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury (Financial Services); David Chung Wai-keung, Under Secretary for Innovation and Technology; Bernard Chan Pak-li, Deputy Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development; Stephen Christopher Phillips, Director-General of InvestHK of the Hong Kong SAR Government and Charles Ng, Associate Director-General of InvestHK visited AMTD Innovation Center at the AsiaWorld-Expo, learning AMTD Group’s efforts and achievements of promoting fintech and cultivating talents in Hong Kong.

After Calvin Choi’s introduction about AMTD Group’s recent developments, Paul Chan Mo-po expressed high recognition for AMTD’s achievements and strong appreciation for the efforts that AMTD Group has put into helping Hong Kong become an international science and technology innovation center. He also expressed his congratulations for the successful listing of AMTD International (NYSE: HKIB), which is the investment banking arm of AMTD Group, on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) as Asia’s largest independent investment bank as well as the first financial institution in Hong Kong listed on NYSE. At the end, Paul Chan Mo-po encouraged AMTD Group to continue its successful work in building a first-class financial institution with Hong Kong Spirit, national enthusiasm and a global perspective.
