AMTD jointly hosts Yabuli Youth Forum Innovation Annual Meeting to discuss young people’s innovative opportunities in Greater Bay Area
On 23 June, “Yabuli Youth Forum 2018 Innovation Annual Meeting” jointly hosted by AMTD Group and Yabuli China Entrepreneurs Forum was held in Hong Kong for the first time. As a co-organizer, Calvin Choi, Chairman and President of AMTD Group, with senior management attended the youth forum, delivered a keynote speech and served as a panelist in the panel discussion “Focus on Greater Bay Area: Youth Lead the Future”.
The forum attracted over 200 people. Leung Chunying, Vice Chairman of CPPCC, in addressing the inaugural ceremony, encouraged young people in Hong Kong to “travel more and see more” to promote the various, wide and deep exchanges between the young entrepreneurs in Mainland and Hong Kong. Leung further said that among the 4 core values of Yabuli Youth Forum, “Openness, Sharing, Innovation and Responsibility”, responsibility is the most important for young entrepreneurs because they are not only responsible for creating profits but also for staff, customers and the society.

Liu Mingkang, former Honorary Chairman of the Yabuli China Entrepreneurs Forum and former Chairman of China Banking Regulatory Commission in addressing the inaugural ceremony pointed out that if Chinese entrepreneurs are to go global, they need to be honest and improve the transparency of their businesses to earn the trust on the global stage. He also shared that the key to a successful business is deepened integration, mutual learning and keeping up with the pace of times.

Calvin Choi, Chairman and President of AMTD Group in addressing the forum, said that AMTD Group is a long-term partner with Yabuli Forum and AMTD is very glad to co-organize the Youth Forum Innovation Annual Meeting with Yabuli to gather FinTech experts and institutions to discuss and exchange opinions on the youth innovative development in Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area. Calvin Choi expressed his hope that the Forum will be a platform to promote the implementation of youth creativity and entrepreneurship in the Greater Bay Area.
Calvin Choi pointed out that the Greater Bay Area has indeed brought the unlimited possibility for young entrepreneurs because the situation has gone beyond Hong Kong to reach the whole Bay Area and the whole of China. He pays more attention to, first, whether there are a communication mechanism and an integrated platform; second, whether there is a space for everyone to join hands i.e. “Herding for warmth” and third, whether there are talents.

Charles Li, Chief Executive of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX), offered deep analyses of the recent new listing regime for BioTech companies in Hong Kong Stock Exchange, weighted voting rights (WVR) new structures and the role of Hong Kong’s capital markets in China’s globalization process.
Angie Lin, Co-CEO of AMTD Strategic Capital Group and Co-Founder and President of FinEX Asia was invited to the “Innovation Sharing: New Opportunities in Fintech 2018” forum, and shared how to use Dianrong’s technology to form the first asset management platform in Asia with guests and discussed the latest development opportunities in FinTech markets with young start-ups.
As the co-organizer, AMTD and Yabuli Forum hosted a themed luncheon on the same day. Frederic Lau, CEO of Capital Markets & Advisory of AMTD Group addresses the luncheon and invited Maggie Ng, Founder and CEO of FinEX Asia to deliver a keynote speech on the theme “Smart City and Development opportunities in the Greater Bay Area”. Angie Lin, Co-CEO of AMTD Strategic Capital Group and Co-Founder and President of FinEX Asia and Michelle Li, Head of Research of AMTD Group were present at the luncheon, having in-depth exchanges with other guests.
In the afternoon of 22nd, over 60 entrepreneurs from Yabuli China Entrepreneurs Forum visited the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) as a start of Yabuli’s Youth Forum in Hong Kong. Philip Yau, Chief Financial Officer of AMTD Group, Mark Lo, Head of Fixed Income and CIO Office and Wayne Liu, President Special Assistant of AMTD Group attended the tour on behalf of AMTD Group. AMTD also hosted a welcome dinner and a reception party as the co-organizer to welcome guests and young leaders.
