AMTD Group successfully completes its debut US$110mm 3yr HKSE-listed bond offering
On March 16, 2016, AMTD Group Company Limited (“AMTD”) successfully completed its debut Reg S US$110mm 3-year HKSE-listed bond offering, a drawdown from its newly established US$500mm Medium Term Note Programme. The transaction marks an important milestone for AMTD and the Asia capital markets as it represents the first ever international USD bond offering from an unrated and unlisted financial services company from Asia. On the back of strong and high-quality demand generated from a well-attended 3-day investor roadshow in Hong Kong and Singapore, the transaction was priced intra-day with the final pricing of 5%. Despite being a relatively new name for the international capital markets, AMTD’s management team was able to comprehensively convey AMTD’s credit story and strategy to credit investors in the region who supported the transaction.
A number of globally renowned investment banks and financial institutions joined the syndicate group of the transaction. UBS also acted as the Joint Arranger of the Medium Term Note Programme and Joint Bookrunner on the transaction. Other Joint Dealers and Joint Bookrunners included Cathay United Bank (a subsidiary of Taiwan’s largest financial holding company Cathay Financial Holding), KEB Hana (Korea’s largest commercial financial institution), Sun Hung Kai Financial (Hong Kong’s largest non-bank financial institution) and Chinese/HK powerhouses such as ICBC International, Guotai Junan International, GF Securities and Quam Securities. Furthermore, UBS also published a pre-deal credit research report on AMTD, to introduce AMTD’s credit to investors prior to the establishment of the Medium Term Note Programme.
